Destination Wedding Photography
I serve clients both home and abroad, and would love to photograph your destination wedding or adventure engagement session. Whether it’s a Parisian elopement or a tropical Costa Rican paradise wedding, honor me by choosing me to photograph your destination dream.
Destination wedding pricing is simply wedding coverage pricing + travel costs. I book all travel arrangements for me and my team, and send you copies of the receipts for reimbursement. Travel costs may include:
Airfare & Baggage Fees
Per diem of $40 per day for each photographer/assistant.
How many people will be traveling?
Since every wedding includes me and my assistant, you will need to fly out two people. Three people if you choose a second photographer. When I book the flight, I will include baggage fees to cover our items not able to come on board in a carry on. I always fly with my camera gear in my carry on, simply to ensure my gear doesn’t end up as lost luggage and I have a camera and lenses for your wedding.
When will you fly out?
I prefer to book a flight departing the day before your event, simply because this would give us enough time to explore your venue, check into the hotel, and prep our gear for your wedding day. We will depart the day after your wedding so we will be there for your entire wedding.
Will we need to book the flights?
I book all our travel accommodations, and will send you the receipts for reimbursement.
How many nights do you stay in the hotel?
We stay for two nights for most weddings. We depart the day after the last event of your coverage. Such as if you want a day after session, then we would require another night’s stay and depart the next day.
Why hire a destination photographer?
Many destination venues offer a package that includes photography for their couples. I have found that more often than not photographers hired by venues aren’t at a professional level, and leave couples a bit deflated over the photographs because they don’t do the location and scenery justice. Here are a few reasons to hire me over a venue photographer:
Professional photographer. Many venues hire locals or venue staff that have little knowledge of photography.
Direct communication with me. Once you leave the venue, communication may come slowly with the venue photographer.
Customer service and experience. I care about your wedding photos and your experience. I am here to answer questions, help with your timeline, and create beautiful photographs.
Guaranteed delivery time. Every wedding booked has a delivery time of three weeks after the wedding date.
A fresh look. When you photograph the same venue over and over, you tend to go to your favorite spots and every wedding begins to look the same. A bit cookie cutter, so to speak. I enjoy seeing new venues, because my creativity goes into overdrive and I see opportunity everywhere! Read my article about if you need a photographer familiar with your venue for more info.
Things to consider
Be sure your venue allows outside vendors. Many do not. Some venues who allow vendors may require a vendor fee if bringing your own photographer. Sometimes venues will waive this fee if the photographer(s) stay for a certain number of nights at the venue. Speak with your wedding planner/coordinator about policies regarding vendors.
